First Question

Repair or Replace? You Can Usually Work That Out Yourself.

Almost everyone calling about a windshield wants one thing settled before anything else. Is this the cheap fix or the expensive one. You can answer it in about ten seconds standing next to the car, with a tape measure or just a finger for scale.

Repair Territory

Damage smaller than about three inches, sitting away from the driver's line of sight and away from the edge of the glass. That is a repair. It takes under thirty minutes, and a good number of policies cover it with nothing out of pocket at all.

Replacement Territory

Anything longer than roughly three inches, anything sitting in your sight line, and anything that runs out to the edge of the glass. Sight line damage stays faintly visible after a repair, and edge damage undermines the bond holding the windshield in place. Budget one to two hours.

The line between those two only ever moves in one direction, and in this climate it moves quickly. A chip picked up on a Monday merge is still a repair on Wednesday. After two weeks of afternoon heat and one decent dust storm, it usually is not. There is more on both jobs under chip repair and windshield replacement.

The Roads

El Mirage Drives More Miles Than a Town This Size Should Have To

This is a young working town. The median age sits around thirty, most households have somebody out the door early, and very few of those jobs are inside the city limits. That adds up to a lot of windshield hours on roads that were never gentle to begin with.

Grand Avenue cuts through the northwest valley as US 60, which puts freight, commuters and local traffic on the same diagonal at the same time of the morning. Everything else runs on Dysart Road, El Mirage Road, Thunderbird Road and Cactus Road, and the newer connections out to Northern Parkway and Loop 303 have made the trip to the rest of the valley faster without making it any cleaner.

Nobody here is going to commute less. What you can do is stop letting the damage sit for three months, which is the entire reason a mobile truck exists instead of a waiting room with old magazines in it.

The Appointment

We Work Around Where the Car Is, Not Where a Shop Is

If you have to take a half day off to get a windshield replaced, the repair has already cost more than the glass. The point of a mobile truck is that the car never moves and neither do you.

1

One Call, One Price

Year, make and model, where the damage sits on the glass, and whether there is a camera or rain sensor mounted behind the mirror. You get a firm number before you hang up, not a range.

2

Tell Us Where the Car Will Actually Be

A home driveway, an apartment lot, a work yard, a job site. None of it matters as long as the vehicle stays parked in one place for the appointment and we can walk all the way around it.

3

The Truck Comes to It

One to two hours for a full windshield replacement, under thirty minutes for a chip repair. You do not have to stand there and watch, and the car does not have to go anywhere.

4

Cleanup and a Safe Drive Time

The old glass and every fragment of it leaves with us. Before we go you get a straight answer on how long the adhesive needs to set, because that number matters more than most people realize.

We are on the road Monday to Friday from eight to five and Saturday mornings from eight until noon. When those hours do not line up with a shift, the usual answer is that we meet the vehicle at your workplace instead of your house. The car does not need you standing next to it. More on how far we go is on we are here for you.

Every Pane

Not Just the Windshield: Door, Quarter, Vent and Back Glass

A windshield is the pane people plan for. The ones that wreck a week are the side and rear windows, because they break with no warning at all and they leave a mess in the car behind them.

Front Windshield

Laminated glass, bonded to the body, replaced in one to two hours and backed by a limited lifetime workmanship warranty.

Door Glass

The most common call after a break in. Fragments fall down inside the door where the regulator lives, and pulling those out is what separates a proper job from one that rattles forever.

Back Glass

Tempered, so it drops all at once into thousands of blunt little cubes that end up under the seats and in the cargo area. Clearing that out is part of the job.

Quarter Glass

The fixed pane behind the rear door on a lot of sedans and SUVs. Usually bonded in rather than framed, so it is handled more like a windshield than a window.

Vent Glass

The small triangular pane at the corner of the door frame. Cheap to overlook and irritating to live without, and plenty of shops will not touch it.

Work Trucks and Second Vehicles

A truck that earns money should not sit for two days over a window. Tell us on the first call if more than one vehicle needs glass and we will do them on the same visit.

Replacement

1 to 2 hrs

Start to finish, wherever the vehicle happens to be parked.

Chip Repair

Under 30 min

Short enough to fit inside a lunch break without stretching it.

Experience

12 years

One family, the same West Valley towns, the whole time.

The full range of what we replace is set out on the all auto glass page, and side windows get their own detail under car window replacement. If a windshield is coming out anyway, that is the cheapest moment to add a tint strip across the top of the glass.

Arizona can cite a driver for damage that obstructs a clear view of the road, so a crack sitting across your sight line is worth handling before it becomes a conversation on the shoulder. The structural case is stronger still. A bonded windshield helps hold the roof up and gives the passenger airbag something to push against.

Insurance and Cost

One Call, Three People On It, Claim Filed

The reason people put off a glass claim is not the glass. It is the phone tree, the hold music and the feeling that one wrong word will cost them the coverage they already pay for. We take that off you by putting everyone on the same call.

You, Us and Your Carrier

A three way call, with the damage described the way an adjuster needs it described. You hear everything that is said about your policy, which is the way it should have always worked.

We Work With Any Company

There is no approved network you have to already belong to. Whoever you are insured with, we will make the call with you.

Comprehensive Usually Covers It

If comprehensive is on the policy, glass is very likely covered, and plenty of policies pay for chip repair outright. Catching damage early is often the difference between free and a deductible.

Cash Price, Quoted Once

No coverage, or a deductible that makes claiming pointless? Ask for the out of pocket number up front. It is competitive, and the number we say on the phone is the number on the invoice.

There is a fuller walk through of the claim on the insurance page. Whatever route you take, the workmanship carries a limited lifetime warranty, so a leak, a wind noise or trim that will not sit flat brings us back out. That is covered in more depth under high quality work.

Everything on this page applies just the same across the line in Surprise, in Sun City next door, in Peoria and down in Phoenix. Nothing changes with the ZIP code, including the price of the drive, which is nothing. The shop those trucks roll out of each morning is southwest of here in Buckeye.

Straight Answers

Before You Call, Here Is What People Ask

Eight questions that come up on most El Mirage calls, answered the same way we would answer them on the phone.

Can you meet the car at a job site or a work lot instead of my house?

Yes, and around here that is often the easier option. Work yards on the industrial side of town, office lots, school pickup areas, all of it works as long as the vehicle stays parked in one spot for the whole appointment and we can get around every side of it. Tell us where it will genuinely be sitting and we will meet it there.

Is there an extra charge to come out to the far side of El Mirage?

No. Mobile service is free and there is no distance premium anywhere in the valley. A stop out near the Agua Fria edge of town costs exactly the same as a stop four streets from Dysart Road, because the quote you get on the phone already includes the drive.

Somebody broke a window and there is glass through the whole back seat. Do you clean that out?

Yes. Side and rear glass is tempered, so it breaks into thousands of small cubes that get into the seat tracks, the cargo area and down inside the door itself. Clearing that out is part of the job, not an extra line on the bill, and the pieces inside the door matter most because they are what causes a permanent rattle.

How long will the appointment take?

One to two hours for a windshield replacement, from the moment we pull up to the moment the trim goes back on. A chip repair is normally under thirty minutes. We will also tell you how long the adhesive needs before the car is safe to drive.

Can this be repaired instead of replaced?

If the damage is under about three inches, and it is not in the driver's line of sight and not touching the edge of the glass, a repair will normally hold. Outside those limits, replacement is the honest answer. We would rather tell you that on the phone than after we have arrived.

Will you deal with my insurance company?

We work with any carrier and set the claim up as a three way call, so you, we and your insurer are on the line together. If you carry comprehensive coverage, glass is usually covered, and many policies cover chip repair with nothing out of pocket.

What if I do not have insurance?

Then you pay out of pocket and our pricing is competitive. Ask for the number on the first call. Whatever we quote is what you pay, with no trip charge added on the day and nothing extra invented once the old glass is already out.

Can I actually get a ticket for a cracked windshield in Arizona?

Yes. Arizona treats damage that obstructs the driver's clear view as something you can be cited for, and a crack running across your sight line qualifies. The safety side matters more anyway, since a properly bonded windshield is part of what holds the roof up in a rollover.
